Data Collection & Usage
VeloValue is a cycling cost analysis tool that helps you track how much you're paying per kilometer for your bikes. Here's what data we collect and how we use it:
Strava Integration
When you connect your Strava account, we access:
- Profile Information: Your name, profile picture, and basic account details
- Bike Data: Information about your bikes including names, brands, models, and pre-calculated total distances ridden
User-Provided Data
You manually provide:
- Bike Prices: The amount you paid for each bike
- Session Information: Temporary login session to identify you as the bike owner
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in Cloudflare's KV storage with the following protections:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted at rest and in transit
- Access Control: Only you can access your own data through your Strava account
- Session Management: Temporary session cookies that expire after 30 days
Data Usage
We use your data exclusively to:
- Calculate price per kilometer for each bike
- Display your bike information and statistics
- Generate shareable bike cost analysis pages
- Provide personalized cycling cost insights
Data Sharing
We do NOT share your personal data with third parties. However:
- Public Bike Pages: When you share a bike page, the bike name and price per kilometer are publicly visible
- Social Media: Shared pages include Open Graph meta tags for social media previews
- Analytics: Basic usage analytics to improve the service (no personal data)
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to collect anonymous usage data including page views, user interactions, and site performance metrics. This helps us understand how users interact with VeloValue and improve the service. Google Analytics data is processed according to Google's privacy policy and does not contain personally identifiable information.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: View all your stored data through your user dashboard
- Modify: Update bike prices and information at any time
- Delete: Remove your account and all associated data by disconnecting from Strava
- Export: Request a copy of your data (contact us for this)
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you use the service:
- Active Use: Data persists while you regularly use VeloValue
- Inactivity: Data may be automatically removed after extended periods of inactivity
- Deletion: You can manually delete your account at any time
